The entry fees for SLAM, a non-profit competition, are used to cover the costs of administration and organisation (including, if necessary, travel assistance for finalists), as well as the participants’ education.

SportLex – Sports Law Institute (Ljubljana, Slovenia) launched SLAM in 2019, and LawInSport has supported it ever since. Now a LawInSport event, SLAM.
We are quite pleased about the future of SLAM, according to Blaz Tomazin Bolcar, co-founder of SportLaw and co-founder of SLAM. The moment is right for SLAM to advance and realise its potential, just like when your child leaves for college. The only way SLAM can truly become the top sports legal moot in the world is by giving the project to LawInSport.

About LawInSports Sports Law Arbitration Moot:
For the LawInSport SLAM 2023, Parmars and Sports Legal are inviting proposals from qualified candidates from the Eastern Africa region, encompassing Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania (including Zanzibar), Rwanda, and Burundi. This initiative aims to advance sports law and arbitration in Africa.
SLAM is a groundbreaking project with the goal of offering a top-notch moot competition that fosters improved understanding of the principles and regulations of international sports arbitration, a significant dispute resolution method in the industry.

Law students from the Eastern Africa region: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania (including Zanzibar), Rwanda and Burundi)
What is the Benefit of LawInSports Sports Law Arbitration Moot (SLAM)?
- Teams will be offered a scholarship package (includes registration fee and virtual supplementary package)
- 5 slots for 5 teams – one team per country (2 participants per team -and MUST be from the same university)
How Long will the Program Last?
- Competition registration opened – 30 Sep 2022
- Release of moot problem & moot rules – 10 Nov 2022
- Period for moot problem clarification questions – 1 Nov 2022 to 04 Jan 2023
- Written submission deadline (registration closes) – 31 Jan 2023
- Results of written submission – 10 Feb 2023
- Regional Oral Finals (online): 25 – 26 Feb 2023

In person, at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland, will be the Semi-Finals and Finals.
All participants will also get training for oral presentations and written submissions, the dates for which will be revealed in due course.
