About the Financial Award

The SMU Steven Miller Scholarship was established in 2016 and is open to local and international undergraduates enrolled full-time in the School of Computing and Information Systems.

Eligibility Criteria

Full-time undergraduates from the School of Computing and information Systems
Any nationality
Outstanding academic results
Good leadership skills
With demonstrated financial need
Preference will be given to financially needy students who have used all available loan/subsidy schemes of up to 90% of the tuition fees payable by Singaporean students

Benefits

Tenable for one year, subject to good academic performance and the recipient’s financial circumstances.
The quantum of the scholarship varies on a case-by-case basis.
The scholarship will be used to pay for the recipients’ tuition fees.
The recipients may apply for bursary for cash allowance.
The recipients are expected to assist in activities of the School of Computing and Information Systems when required.

About the Donor

The SMU Steven Miller Scholarship was established to carry on the goals that our founding Dean of SCIS, Professor Steven Miller, has always held dear: bringing in fresh talent and enabling deserving students to finish their SMU educations despite facing financial challenges. The scholarship was established in Professor Miller’s honour because he played a key role in directing SCIS’s development and making it into the prestigious institution it is today. Professor Miller himself was a first-generation college student and understands the importance of giving students the opportunity to reach their academic goals regardless of their financial background. The SMU Steven Miller Scholarship is testament to the lasting legacy of Professor Miller and his commitment to serving others and providing access to higher education to all deserving individuals, no matter their socio-economic backgrounds.
